What is a cloud real estate brokerage?

A cloud brokerage runs online instead of from local offices. You work from home, get your tools and training on the web, and usually pay a published fee schedule that is the same everywhere. eXp Realty, Real Brokerage, LPT Realty, Fathom and Epique are cloud brokerages.

How a cloud brokerage is different

  • No office to pay for. That is where the lower fees come from.
  • One fee schedule for everyone. Traditional franchise offices each set their own; cloud brokerages usually publish one.
  • Online training and support. Classes, chat and a broker line instead of a manager down the hall.
  • Revenue share. Most pay agents for bringing other agents, across several levels.
  • Licensed in many states. A state broker still supervises you, but the company runs nationally.

How the big cloud brokerages charge

Brokerage Split Yearly cap
eXp Realty 80/20 $16,000
Real Brokerage 85/15 $12,000 solo
Fathom Realty 93/7 (EDGE) $9,000 (EDGE)
LPT Realty $500 a deal or 80/20 $5,000 or $15,000
Epique Realty 85/15 Goes down each year
AXEN None. $500 per closing $6,000 (Pro)

Each company's own published numbers, September 2026. Monthly, per-file and post-cap fees are on each company's page and in the brokerage fee comparison.

Who a cloud brokerage suits

  • Agents who work from home and do not need a desk.
  • Agents who want one clear fee schedule.
  • Agents who plan to bring other agents and want revenue share.

Who it may not suit: new agents who want a manager in the next office, and agents whose clients expect a local storefront.

How AXEN does it

No commission split. You keep 100% and pay a flat fee per closing.

AXEN charges a flat fee per closing ($500 on the Pro plan; less on smaller deals) that caps at $6,000 a year, or $12,000 on the Elite plan, plus a $295 per-file admin fee and a $50 a month platform fee. There is no commission split, and a transaction coordinator is included on every file.

AXEN is not the cheapest on fees alone for every agent. See the math against other brokerages, or look inside the AXEN portal for free.

Costs only, not an earnings claim. Your income depends on your own sales. Fees as published September 2026; confirm every fee in writing before you sign.
